Volunteering to help the Chevra Kadisha is considered one of the greatest of all Mitzvot.

The Boulder Chevra Kadisha is a volunteer-based organization serving Jewish communities throughout Boulder County. Our trained local volunteers provide traditional Jewish burial preparation and dedicate themselves to honoring the deceased through respectful and dignified practices.

The Boulder Chevra Kadisha focuses around two essential elements: taharah (washing and ritual purification of the body as well as dressing it in traditional burial garments) and shmirah (guarding the deceased from the time of death until burial). Volunteers are trained to carry out each step of the burial preparation with care and sensitivity

All community members are welcome to participate in any of the holy rituals that fit your desire and temperament.
