Deepening Our Practice: A Learning Session & Conversation with Rick Light
Please join us for a special learning session dedicated to deepening our understanding and practice of shmira (guarding) and tahara (the ritual washing and purification).
We are incredibly honored to welcome author, spiritual teacher, and educator Rick Light to lead our study. Rick has been generously helping the Boulder Chevra Kadisha for years and has been an invaluable, free-giving resource of time, energy, and wisdom for our community.
Whether you are a long-time member or interested in learning more about this sacred chesed (kindness), this intimate afternoon is designed to offer profound insights into how the way we treat the dead reflects how we honor life. To ensure everyone’s questions can be addressed, Rick will leave significant time for an open, interactive Q&A.
About our Teacher
Rick Light is a co-founder of his local Chevrah Kadisha in Santa Fe, NM, which he led for 18 years, and has spent decades providing education, training, and technical assistance to bereavement committees across North America. He is the author of four books on Jewish end-of-life rituals (including a Nautilus Book Award winner), a staff member of JADE (the Jewish Association for Death Education), and the designer of the Hineni tool. When he isn't teaching, Rick loves the wilderness and the outdoors as an instructor of rock climbing, skiing, and backpacking—believing deeply in recognizing the magic and sacredness in the world around us.
